Tradition affirmed as Class of 2008 graduates

The Bells of the Leonidas Polk Memorial Carillon rang down on the parti-colored faculty and guests lining the sidewalks today along University Avenue, allowing the 346 newly degreed graduates of the Class of 2008 to pass through and receive applause, cheers and embraces recognizing and honoring their academic achievement and service. Partly cloudy skies and stiff breezes did not curtail the traditional recessional and picnic on the Quadrangle, as the final event in an eventful graduation weekend came to a close with the granting of baccalaureate degrees, the University's charge to the "chosen and now honored youths," and the singing of Alma Mater from All Saints' Chapel.
