Baccalaureate Address: May 13, 2006, Dr. Samuel R. Williamson

Chancellor Parsley, Vice-Chancellor Cunningham, Acting University Chaplain Myers, faculty and staff, friends, members of the Class of 2006. For twelve years I had the honor to select the baccalaureate speaker; I never in my wildest dreams ever thought the tables would be turned on me. I am honored to be asked to speak and I thank Vice-Chancellor Cunningham for this opportunity.

I was taking Dr. Davidheiser’s Goethe seminar, which consisted of about 7 or 8 students and met at Stirling’s in the afternoon.

Following is the text of the valedictory address given by Katharine Wilkinson, a May 2005 graduate, during commencement ceremonies for the College of Arts and Sciences: Good morning. Family, friends, teachers, thank you for gathering today in commemoration of the four years past – in some cases five…or six – and in celebration of the adventures that lie ahead. This day is both exciting and painful, simultaneously joyful and sad.
