duPont Library staff are responsible for obtaining copyright clearance for printed materials on campus. Staff work with the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC), individual publishers, authors, and/or the University Legal Counsel to obtain clearances for faculty and others who wish to photocopy copyrighted materials or place photocopied materials on reserve (either in paper or electronic format) at the Library. duPont Library is responsible for obtaining clearances for electronic materials used on campus.
If there is ever any doubt as to whether a document is still protected by copyright, it is always best to check before duplicating. As the old saying goes, “It's better to be safe than sorry!"
