CLUB SPORTS AND RECREATION ORGANIZATIONS

THE SEWANEE CANOE TEAM is a sports organization dedicated to teaching the sport of rowing and competing. The club focuses on developing pride, team unity and tradition.

THE CLIMBING CLUB of the University of the South has as its purpose the promotion of all facets of rock climbing. This includes weekend trips, a support group to push for construction of a climbing wall on campus, participation in sport climbing competitions, and monitoring land management of climbing areas on the Domain. Membership is open to all students.

THE SEWANEE CREW TEAM is an organization which encourages University students and people of the surrounding area in the sport of rowing. The team founded and chartered the Winchester Rowing Club and has been granted land on Tims Ford Lake to build a boathouse. The team participates in competitions, holds fundraisers, and is involved in community service.

THE UNIVERSITY EQUESTRIAN CLUB promotes interest in equestrian activities through lectures, videos, and attendance at equine events. Members do not have to be currently enrolled in a P.E. class.

THE SEWANEE FENCING SOCIETY teaches all interested people to enjoy the sport of fencing. Through the Sewanee Fencing Society, fencers of all levels have the opportunity to compete in local, regional, and national tournaments.

THE HANDBALL CLUB provides equipment and court time for students who have learned the game in PE108. In addition, it sponsors student participation in Handball tournaments, and provides workshops and demonstrations with nationally ranked players.

THE SEWANEE MEN’S LACROSSE CLUB is a sports organization dedicated to promoting the sport of lacrosse on campus. The team holds practice four days a week in the spring and participates in games against a number of colleges and universities in the Southeast region.

THE PAINTBALL CLUB is designed to give students and faculty an opportunity to participate in a constructive and educational outdoor activity that develops teamwork in an interactive and fun environment.

THE RUGBY CLUB fields a competitive rugby team and promotes the sport of rugby on campus.

THE UNIVERSITY CYCLING TEAM AND MOUNTAIN BIKING provides amateur and serious, competitive cyclists with the opportunity to race against other schools primarily in the Southeast.
