Print Services

Print Services, located in the basement of Carnegie Hall, is the University’s copying and printing center. Regular office hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 am to 12:00 noon, and 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

Our staff assists faculty, staff, and students with their secretarial, desktop publishing, and web editing needs. Classwork, publications, correspondence, and other documents can be scanned into machine-readable format, keyed, formatted, printed on a laser printer, and/or reproduced. You may submit your request via electronic mail to printservices@sewanee.edu, on CD, or on memory sticks (flash drive/jump drive). Other services include laser printing and photocopying (black & white and color, 8.5 x 11 and 11 x 17); laminating (up to 38" wide); book binding; black & white and color scanning; and stationery and business card printing. We also stock many kinds of paper and envelopes.

Several of our staff help coordinate and teach computer orientation for new faculty and staff. We also provide training and technical support to University faculty and staff in the areas of word processing, desktop publishing, graphics, and presentation software. This office is also responsible for obtaining copyright clearances for printed materials on campus.

All incoming faxes received by the Telecommunications Office (x1145) are now being routed directly to your computer desktop via e-mail as a .pdf document. You may send outbound faxes in digital format (.pdf or .tif) as an e-mail attachment directly to Alice Black (ablack@sewanee.edu). If you have an outbound fax that is not in digital format you may bring it to either Telecommunications or Print Services for processing during normal office hours.

Federal Express (FedEx), DHL, and United Parcel Service (UPS) packages for faculty are delivered to Print Services. Packages delivered to Print Services are placed on the pickup shelf, and the faculty member is notified.

Please contact our office at ext. 1571 or via email at printservices@sewanee.edu for further assistance.

Copyright Clearance

The Office of Print Services is responsible for obtaining copyright clearance for printed materials on campus. Staff work with the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC), individual publishers, authors, and/or the University Legal Counsel to obtain clearances for faculty and others who wish to photocopy copyrighted materials or place photocopied materials on reserve (either in paper or electronic format) at the Library. duPont Library is responsible for obtaining clearances for electronic materials used on campus.

If there is ever any doubt as to whether a document is still protected by copyright, it is always best to check before duplicating. As the old saying goes, “It's better to be safe than sorry!"

Offset Printing Center

University newsletters, stationery, envelopes, invitations, business cards, chapel programs, note pads, etc. are produced in the Printing Center. The Printing Center employs a publications specialist and two press operators. They make use of environmentally correct soybean inks and use recycled paper for most jobs produced. Staff are available to consult with you on your printing projects and will contract with another vendor if the job cannot be printed with the University's equipment.
