McCrady Hall
History
McCrady Hall is on the corner of St. Augustine and Alabama Avenues, near Dupont Library, Gailor Hall, Woods Lab and McClurg Cafeteria. Originally built in 1964, this residence hall has a tower-like feature, making it resemble a castle. It houses 92 men and women.
Layout and Design
Rooms are arranged in suites for four persons, with two study rooms and two bedrooms connected by a bath. Each study opens onto the bedroom. The walls are concrete blocks painted white. New showers were installed at McCrady in January 2006.
A central first floor commons room features a large stone fireplace, comfortable couches, television, VCR and DVD. Smaller first and second floor commons have a couch and chairs for reading or relaxing. A raised stone patio runs along the rear of the building, providing an excellent site for gatherings and cookouts.
Additional Information
The beds in McCrady are 80" long and have approximately 14" of storage space underneath each of them. Students are asked not to bring metal frame futon furniture as it often causes significant damage to students' rooms.
Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4, 101-102, 105-106, 107-108, and 111-112 are designated as substance-free living space.
McCrady Hall is not air-conditioned. A fan is highly recommended!
