Alpha Delta Theta

Founded in the spring of 1979, Alpha Delta Theta is one of the most diverse and active organizations at The University of the South.  Founded on the basis of service to both the University and the community, the sorority strives to realize these goals as extensively as possible while encouraging each sister to excel academically, spiritually and socially in her four years at Sewanee.

Alpha Delta Theta participates in many facets of university life, and members can be found in virtually every organization on campus.  The sorority has a high number of Gownsmen and Wilkins Scholars as well as several members of various academic honor societies such as Phi Beta Kappa, and we maintain one of the highest grade point averages of all the Greek organizations.  Academics aside, ADTs are involved in social clubs such as Pink Ribbon Society, White Ribbon Society, and Bonnie Bunch of Roses, and the sorority also hosts formal dances and numerous band parties with other sororities and fraternities among others.  The sorority encourages its members to participate in community service projects both with the sorority and independently.  Throwing a Halloween party for Big People for Little People, painting a 50-foot map of the United States for the elementary school, and caroling for senior citizens at Christmas are just some of the projects in which we have participated.  Alpha Delta Theta has been awarded the Dean's Cup for all around excellence on multiple occasions.  We hope to continue our record of outstanding service and leadership in years to come.
