FRATERNITY CHECKOUT FORM

To assist housing corporations and the University in adequately securing fraternity houses, please complete the following checklist and submit a copy of your fraternity house's keys to the Police Department before you leave Sewanee.

**Do not have your electricity turned off! The fire detection system is dependent upon electricity and alumni corporations will need electrical power and utilities to accurately assess and/or complete renovation work. If you have a heating/cooling unit, contact your alumni housing corporation president before turning it all the way off.

FRATERNITY CLOSING CHECKLIST:

KEYS: Did you label and submit to the Sewanee Police Department a set of keys to the fraternity house? Keys are needed in cases of emergency and for alumni corporations to have access to perform renovations and/or renovation planning. We will need access to all areas in every fraternity house.

Refrigerators: If chapters or members have refrigerators in the fraternity house, did you empty and clean them?

Trash/Cleaning: Did you remove all trash and appropriately clean the house? This includes mopping the floors.

Security: Did you ensure that the house is properly secured? The Unviersity does not assume responsibility for your house.

Storage: Do not use the house as a storage facility. If the fraternity owns valuable items, secure them in a closet or an internal room in the house out of clear view from the windows. You are highly encouraged to not allow members to store things in the house. Items stored in the fraternity house can be removed and it is recommended that they be stored at the expernse of individuals and/or the chapter. Did you choose to allow individuals to store belongings in the house?

House Property: Please clear all trash and unnecessary items from the yard (front, back and sides). Lawn care does not begin until after graduation and costs each fraternity $400 for the summer. Did you appropriately prepare your property for the summer months?
