Wireless Laptop Checkout Policy
Checkout Locations and Eligible Users
Sewanee students with a valid ID can check out a wireless laptop computer, wireless tablet PC, or wireless card. They can be checked out at the information desk in the Academic Technology Center (ATC) on the ground floor of duPont Library.
Loan Period
Wireless laptop computers and tablet PCs or wireless cards can be checked out for up to three hours a day. Checkout time may be less if checked out less than three hours before the ATC and Library close. All wireless laptops are due back before closing time, no overnight checkouts are allowed. There are no renewals. Because of the limited number, all wireless equipment is available on a first come, first served basis and may not be reserved.
Areas of Use and Security
The entire Library building has wireless networking. Feel free to use the laptops anywhere in the library, but we ask that you do not take them from the building. Please do not leave the laptops unattended during your checkout period. When returning laptops to the ATC Information Desk, please make sure that you return the equipment to a staff member. Do not leave the equipment on the checkout desk unattended.
Fines, Repair and Replacement Fees
A fine of $20.00 per hour will be assessed for computers that are turned in late with a maximum fine of $60.00. You are responsible for the computer you have checked out. If it is lost or stolen, you will be billed $2000.00 for replacement plus any fines you have accrued. If the computer is damaged, you will be billed accordingly for the cost of repairs. A fine of $10.00 per hour will be assessed for wireless cards that are turned in late. Lost or stolen cards will be billed to your account for $100.00.
